The 13th edition of the Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) is set to dazzle fashion enthusiasts with its “Coming of Age” theme.
The City of Durban has opened applications for fashion designers eager to present their latest collections at the fashion event.
Designers must apply by Friday August 16.
The DFF, set down for Wednesday September 18 to Friday September 20, will be held at the Station Urban Event Space, a new venue this year. Over three days, the event will feature 12 shows, with four shows each day, providing a platform for designers to display their work to buyers and industry professionals, enhancing their brand identity and fostering potential collaborations.
Thembo Ntuli, chairperson of the Economic Development and Planning Committee, expressed pride in the programme’s growth.
“The programme is growing from strength to strength and has become one of the leading fashion events in Africa.”
The DFF is aimed at skills development and job creation.
It comprises four key components:
Fashion Mentorship: This nine-month capacity-building programme targets emerging fashion designers, with 24 designers currently being trained. These designers will debut their collections during the DFF showcase in September.
Model Bootcamp: A two-month professional modelling training programme for 24 aspiring models, preparing them for the competitive fashion industry.
DFF Showcase: This market access platform connects designers with potential buyers through fashion showcases.
DFF Emporium: Enhancing market access, the City rents a physical store in uMlazi Mega City where over 40 local designers’ creations are sold at no cost to them.
