Fit and fantastic, Zamile Nduli, a gym supervisor, recently won gold at the KwaZulu-Natal Open Bodybuilding Championship.
Flexing her impressive demonstration of determination and skill, Ms Nduli embarked on a new chapter in her bodybuilding career when she decided to compete in the women’s physique category.
“This transition was motivated by the insightful guidance of my coach, who recognised my potential. I started on an intense training regimen, working five days a week to refine my routines and sculpt my physique,” she said.
“I am grateful for this amazing achievement. I am a product of my hard work, discipline, commitment, and people who believe in my passion for fitness and bodybuilding.”
She acknowledged the support of the School of Health Sciences, the Discipline of Biokinetics, Exercise and Leisure Sciences, colleagues, friends, and family. She said her friends played a crucial role on the day of the event, meticulously managing every detail to ensure her success.
Her coach, Thomas Wagner, is the one who has been motivating Ms Nduli to do her best. “Thomas guided me in a challenging training routine that pushed my boundaries. My choreographer, Bongiwe Gumede added an artistic dimension to my performance, crafting a routine that captivated the audience,” said Ms Nduli.
Ms Nduli also expressed her thanks to Professor Rowena Naidoo, Bels Academic leader., who mentored and guided her, offering support beyond the competition arena. It was also Professor Naidoo who had encouraged her to compete in her first championships in 2019 and bought her her first bikini for the show.
“I work out every day of the week. Some days, I go harder on myself and there are days when I take it easy. Due to the knowledge, I acquired when I was pursuing my Sport Science degree, I can be my own personal trainer. I simply apply what I was taught in an effective way, and I do so passionately. I eat right and exercise effectively,” said Ms Nduli.
