If you love fast cars and spinning, you are in for a treat. The return of Red Bull Shay’ iMoto – the ultimate celebration of spinning debuts in Durban this year, for the first time ever.
The Red Bull Shay’ iMoto, known as the ultimate celebration of spinning, South Africa’s home-grown motorsport phenomenon, makes its Durban debut at the Suncoast Casino on August 10, 2025. It promises fans raw energy, tyre smoke, and adrenaline-fuelled showmanship, said head of public relations, Ms Monica van der Spuy.
“Red Bull Shay’ iMoto brings the art of spinning front and centre, transforming a grassroots cultural movement into a competitive platform that showcases the skill, creativity, and swagger of South Africa’s top drivers. With the crowd’s roar and lights in play, the event fuses high-octane motor action with the pulse of urban street culture,” said Ms van der Spuy.
She added that on Sunday August 10, ticket holders will gather to witness the crowning of the Red Bull Shay’ iMoto champion. Judged by a panel of well-known motorsport personalities, alongside the crowd’s votes, the format ensures both precision and performance are rewarded.
“The 2024 event saw Cape Town’s Mr Chadwin “Boksie” Hadjie take the title from two-time defending champion Mr Samkeliso “Sam Sam” Thubane in Cape Town. With Durban now hosting for the first time, 2025 promises a new twist on the course layout, even higher stakes, and a fresh wave of talent,” said van der Spuy.
