The delightful 'A Pocket Magic Flute', will be screened at The Wave Theatre in Cape Town at 11am on Sunday, 9 March 2025.
Perfect for young children, this delightful 40-minute film is a pioneering educational opera project that reimagines Mozart’s The Magic Flute in Africa, through a combination of acting and animation.
Pocket Opera is the amazing team behind this groundbreaking adaptation by a creative team that brings the fun movie to life. Music for the project came from top African-American performers at Pocket Opera, alongside orchestral tracks by young talents from the Oakland and Sacramento Youth Symphonies.
This short film is part of Cape town Opera’s SHORTS: A Festival of Short Operas that is at The Wave Theatre from 7 to 16 March with all tickets R50 available through Webtickets.
