The Star College volleyball team are on top of the world after a thrilling victory in the league championship game.
This followed seven successful wins against Sastri College, Westville Boys’ High School, Maritzburg College, Northwood High School and George Campbell School of Technology.
The team, led by coach Sfundo Mpuko, has been dominating the competition all season, and their hard work and dedication paid off in a big way.
“The game was played at Westville Boys High gymnasium, where a packed crowd of students, staff, and family members gathered to cheer on their favourite team.
“The energy in the room was electric as the Star College Volleyball team took to the court to face off against Northwood Boys’ High School Team A,” said Mpuko.
“From the start, it was clear that the Star College team was ready to give it their all. They came out strong, with each player giving their best effort to out-maneuver and outplay their opponents. The opponent team put up a good fight, but the Star College team was determined to take home the win.”
Mpuko said the game was neck and neck for most of the match, with neither team able to gain a significant advantage. But as the clock ticked down, it became clear that the Star College team was going to come out on top. With a final score of 2-1, the Star College Volleyball team emerged victorious, claiming their spot as the league champions.
The team’s victory was met with cheers and applause from the crowd, as well as tears of joy from the players themselves. Mr Mpuko beamed with pride as he congratulated his team on their hard-fought win.
“We’ve worked so hard all season, and it’s amazing to see it all pay off like this,” said Mpuko “I’m so proud of every single one of my players. They’ve shown incredible teamwork and determination, and I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
The Star College Volleyball team’s victory is not just a celebration of their athletic prowess, but also a testament to their commitment to teamwork and sportsmanship, said Mpuko.
“Throughout the season, they have demonstrated a sense of camaraderie and respect for their opponents, making them a beloved and respected part of the college community,” said Mpuko.
As the team celebrates their championship win, they are already looking ahead to next season, he added.
