FutureMe, organisers of the World of Work (WoW) Career Festival, have announced the inclusion of Durban’s The Station Urban Event Space in the schedule.
WoW will kick off in Cape Town on Thursday August 31, followed by the Durban event in February 2024.
Registration is now open and FutureMe calls on chief executive officers, managing directors, general managers and all business owners to exhibit and support this youth initiative that aims to connect young individuals with the world of work and inspire them to pursue employment opportunities from the diverse range of job possibilities showcased annually at WoW.
Grade 10 and Grade 11 pupils from KwaZulu-Natal can expect first-hand experience of real workplace opportunities in various industries, such as retail management, recycling, finance, healthcare, data analytics, event planning, hospitality, engineering, architecture and building management.
FutureMe, the recipient of the 2021 WCERA Social Enterprise of the Year Award, has been bringing together teachers, pupils and employers at WoW for the past seven years. Since its inception in 2016, FutureMe has partnered with the Western Cape Education Department (WCED), enabling WoW to engage with over 8 500 Grade 10 to 11 pupils from schools across Cape Town.
FutureMe has also developed a series of youth talent development programmes to bridge the gap between South Africa’s youth and the employment sector. They assist young people in developing self-awareness and work readiness skills while at the same time experiencing critical career exposure with many of SA’s much loved brands.
