Umhlanga’s infamous feline, Skabenga, celebrated his 18th birthday in style at his “residence”, The Oyster Box Hotel, with many guests.
Skabenga, which means hooligan in isiZulu, became a resident at the plush hotel after wandering onto the property as a stray many years ago and remained after getting a taste of the good life at the five star hotel.
The Oyster Box is world-renowned and plays host to international guests, including celebrities.
Every year the hotel hosts a party for Skabenga and this year’s theme was Under the Sea and held over two days (last Friday and Saturday).
The programme line-up included Andre from Breath Conservation, who started the party off with an informative and interactive talk with the children to teach them the importance of saving the ocean.
There were face painting, a water balloon tunnel, and plenty of activities.
The menu was extensive and, in keeping with the theme, included a mini Star Fish pizza, mini chicken octopus, cheese and tomato yachts, savoury clam shell muffins, and sail boat eggs.
