Another drive-by shooting near Phoenix on Friday night has left two people dead.
This follows a drive-by shooting that occurred in the same area on Thursday evening that left one person dead.
Heavy calibre firearms were used in both incidents.
Reaction Unit South Africa’s (RUSA) Prem Balram said they had been called out to the scene of the shooting just after 11pm on Friday and that 58 spent rifle cartridges had been recovered there.
“On arrival, our officers discovered a bullet-riddled Toyota Hiace taxi stationary on the road. The two occupants of the vehicle were killed in the incident. Fifty eight .223 cartridges were found at the scene,” said Mr Balram.
He said the motive for the murders had not been established but it was believed to be linked to a shooting incident which left one person dead in nearby Emona.
Police are investigating two cases of murder.
