Police have launched a manhunt for a suspect who opened fire on a group of people in Durban North, killing one.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesman Colonel Roberty Netshiunda said three people were also injured in the incident that took place on Sunday afternoon on Adelaide Tambo road.
He said four women of Asian origin had reportedly been sitting in a room in their rented house when a male companion, also of Asian origin, arrived and the women are believed to have asked him to give them a lift to the nearby shopping centre.
“When the women and their male friend were getting inside the vehicle, another man, also of the same nationality as the rest of them, emerged from inside the house and fired shots. One woman sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene. The other women were rushed to hospital in a critical condition. The male companion escaped unharmed,” said Col Netshiunda.
He said investigations were under way to establish the motive of the shooting as well as the relations between the suspect and the victims.
