One hundred pupils from Shaka’s Kraal Primary School took part in the Fordyce Fusion Shaka’s Kraal Get Active for Life Challenge.
The pupils received weekly training sessions from the Fordyce Fusion team, founded by legendary Comrades Marathon winner Bruce Fordyce to get people active and discover their true physical potential. The cost of the Challenge was sponsored by Sibaya Casino.
“The wellness initiative was structured to inspire young people to get active and enjoy the benefits of improved learning, increased creativity, sharpened memory, improved self-esteem and reduced anxiety. Through physical activity, we developed goal-setting, planning and execution skills,” said Gill Sieling, Fordyce Fusion KwaZulu-Natal organiser.
The Challenge, which began on July 11, saw participants taken through an array of running, walking, strength and conditioning activities, overseen by their school coaches and the Fordyce Fusion team.
It ended on August 2 with a prize-giving ceremony where the top achievers were recognised.
The Top 10 fastest runners were also selected to receive additional coaching from Fordyce Fusion to nurture their talent.
