In an effort to boost township economies, the eThekwini Municipality is reviving the Regional Durban Business Fairs (DBF).
The fairs showcase area-based business products, empowering entrepreneurs with skills, and availing networking opportunities.
Chairperson of the city’s Economic Development and Planning Committee, Thembo Ntuli, said small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) are pillars of the city’s economy and drive job creation.
“Unlocking rural and township economic growth remains an integral part of our strategy to promote inclusive economic growth and create jobs. It is therefore practical to create and coordinate programmes that promote entrepreneurship and small business growth to upscale the revitalisation of rural and township economies,” Mr Ntuli said.
The programme will include exhibitions, seminars, culinary and fashion showcases, master-classes, and capacity building initiatives.
The exhibitor registration for the South Regional DBF, taking place from Friday October 25 to Sunday October 27 at the KwaMnyandu Shopping Centre, in Umlazi, is now open. The booking deadline is Monday September 30 as space is limited.
