Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Nomusa Ncube-Dube has confirmed that 16 of the 100 mobile Home Affairs offices unveiled by President Cyril Ramaphosa last week, will be added to KZN’s fleet.
“The mobile offices are part of Home Affairs’ Hybrid Access Model which expands services in areas where the department’s footprint is limited,” Home Affairs said in a statement issued to the media.
Ms Dube-Ncube said: “This is a game-changer in the provision of Home Affairs services. Government is fulfilling its commitment and mandate to take services to the people.”
The mobile offices aim to extend the reach of the department’s services by going to where people live, especially in remote areas.
“The functionality of these mobile offices will be demonstrated as a few members of the public will briefly access services on site, before the units are distributed to the various districts,” said the statement.
