Members of the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit, together with Crime Intelligence and the Durban Metro Police Drug Team, this week arrested a 36-year-old suspect for alleged drug dealing at a sports ground in Phoenix.
KZN Hawks spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Simphiwe Mhlongo said acting on intelligence, law enforcement conducted a targeted search of the suspect’s residence, uncovering pieces of crack cocaine and mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R9300.
“The suspect was immediately placed under arrest and charged with drug dealing. He is scheduled to appear in the Phoenix Magistrate’s Court soon to face these charges,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Mhlongo.
KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General Lesetja Senona, praised the team’s diligent efforts. “This arrest is proof of the commitment and precision of our officers in combatting organised crime,” Major General Senona said, extending his congratulations to the teams.
