A woman, believed to be in her 60s, was stabbed to death in a robbery at her apartment in Musgrave Road, Durban, on Monday October 2. Police said three men gained access to the building and accosted the woman at the entrance of her apartment.
The incident happened around 7am. South African Police Service (SAPS) KwaZulu-Natal spokesman, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said the woman had been stabbed several times in her upper back, piercing a vital organ. Police have not released her name as yet.
“The woman was at her place of residence in the Berea area when she was accosted by three suspects who stabbed and robbed her of her bag. The unknown suspects drove away in a vehicle. The Berea police are investigating a murder case,” said Colonel Netshiunda.
The woman had been at the entrance of her apartment when she was stabbed. She attempted to go back into her apartment but collapsed and died on the scene. Her husband was asleep at home at the time of the attack.
According to a real estate listing, the three-bedroom apartments boast high security including closed circuit TV, 24-hour access control, electric fencing and street patrol. The apartments sell from R4 250 000.
