The Hollywoodbets Dolphins Ladies are on a winning streak.
They continued their flawless start to the season when they beat the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers in both their Pro50 and Pro20 matches in the Hollywoodbets Pro Series in Oudtshoorn this past weekend.
Starting on Saturday, October 12, with their 50-over clash at the Recreation Ground, the Dolphins, defending champions of the 50-over competition, bowled first and managed to restrict the hosts to 157 all out inside 41 overs.
Captain Nondumiso Shangase picked up 3/20 in her 10 overs while Nobulumko Baneti bagged 2/26.
“The Dolphins were positive in their run chase and got to their desired target in the 35th over despite being seven wickets down,” said Shangase.
“Opener Alexandra Candler top scored with 43 off 63 balls while Asamkele Kawu continued her good form with the bat making 29 off 21 balls. Zintle Mali was crucial to getting the Dolphins over the line with a well-played 22 not out off 25 balls as the Dolphins won by three wickets.”
The roles were reversed in Sunday’s Pro20 clash as the Dolphins took first strike and they put together a well-compiled 148 for three in their 50 overs.
It was Candler again, who was in fine form, with the bat registering a half century and finishing the innings with 55 not out off 61 balls.
Shangase gave the innings some important momentum with a dominant 48 off 25 balls while Nobuhle Busane made an impressive 37 off 29 balls.
With 149 to defend, the Dolphins were clinical with the ball in hand and restricted the hosts to 95/7 in their 20 overs.
“Zintle Mali was the pick of the bowlers from a wicket’s perspective claiming 2/19 in three overs. The rest of the wickets were shared among the Dolphins bowlers as they completed a 53 run win and returned to Durban with another two wins under our belt,” said Shangase.
The Hollywoodbets Dolphins will take a two-week break before they face the Knights in Bloemfontein over the weekend of November 2 and 3.
