The Hollywoodbets Dolphins Ladies played an outstanding game over the weekend.
They maintained their unbeaten record across the Hollywoodbets Pro Series with another double over the Fidelity Titans in Pretoria.
The Dolphins made it 10 wins in a row with five in the Pro50 and five in the Pro20 to see them remain top of both tables after five rounds of fixtures.
On Saturday, November 23, the 50-over clash was a low scoring affair, however, had excitement all the way to the end as the Dolphins showed their true character defending 112 to win by 23 runs.
They were bowled out for 112 with Namibian international Yasmeen Khan top scoring with a crucial 45. The Dolphins were ruthless with the ball as they defeated the Titans batters to restrict them to 89 all out.
Left-arm spinner Jade de Figueiredo starred with the ball taking 3/16 in just over seven overs. Seshnie Naidu, Nosihle Ngubane and Kiara Fisher all picked up two wickets to help the Dolphins to another important win.
Sunday’s match was far more one-sided as the Dolphins cruised to a seven wicket victory with nearly five overs to spare.
Bowling first this time the Dolphins held the Titans to just 116 for nine in their 20 overs. De Figueiredo was once again the standout for the Dolphins and picked up 3/10 in her four overs.
“Zinhle Mali and Seshnie Naidu were responsible for two Titans wickets each as the Dolphins bowling attack fired. It wasn’t only the bowlers that fired, the Dolphins fielding also accounted for two wickets with two run outs. Nicole de Klerk controlled the show for the Dolphins making a fluent 72 not out off 41 balls while her opening partner Alex Candler made 26,” said De Figueiredo.
Their opening stand of 66 broke the back of the chase which meant that the loss of three fairly quick wickets didn’t induce panic.
De Klerk and Courtney Gounden took the Dolphins to a bonus point seven wicket win.
The Hollywoodbets Dolphins have a break in both competitions and will face the DP World Lions Women in Durban on December 14 and 15.
