Forensic investigations to establish whether the charred remains of a human being found in a burnt out Audi TT belonging to missing 26-year-old Tashil Beemson from Phoenix are ongoing.
Mr Beemson was reported missing after he did not return home on Wednesday.
Reaction Unit South Africa’s Prem Balram said Mr Beemson had left his Trenance Manor home shortly after midnight on Tuesday to purchase snacks from a nearby service station.
“His family raised the alarm when he failed to return home that morning. His torched vehicle was discovered a few hours later on the M27 near Waterloo. A body that was burnt beyond recognition was recovered in the car. His family have been advised that DNA testing will be conducted to confirm if the body was that of Tashil’s. They are still awaiting the outcome of that procedure. Details leading up to the incident have not been established,” said Mr Balram.
Witnesses to the incident are requested to contact Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) on 086 1234 333.
