Local police are continuing with a blitz on drug trafficking in the province.
On Thursday afternoon, police working to actively combat drug trafficking, executed an operation at a lodge in Dr Pixley kaSeme Street.
Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala said during the operation, law enforcement officers entered the lodge and discovered a 53-year-old man attempting to dispose of a black bag in his possession.
“Inside the bag, they found 2070g of methcathinone, 55g of crystal meth, 25g of cocaine powder, and 20g of rock cocaine. The estimated value of the seized drugs is R475 000,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Gwala.
She said in addition, a 27-year-old individual was also found at the same location in possession of 31.10g of methcathinone, valued at R6000.
Both suspects are now facing charges related to drug possession and dealing in drugs and are scheduled to appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court.
