The body of a missing Durban woman, believed to have been washed away from her home in Tongaat on Saturday night during the heavy rains, was recovered in Walter Reid road, Tongaat.
The woman’s partner still remains unaccounted for.
IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Samantha Meyrick said community members had found the woman’s body and alerted the police.
The body was then recovered by members of the IPSS Search and Rescue, CERT search and rescue teams, and Umhali SAPS K9 Search & Rescue and handed over to local SAPS.
“We would like to convey our gratitude to the local community members, who always play an integral role in recovering those who have gone missing during floods. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Ms Meyrick.
