Tributes are pouring in for Reverend Bekizipho Khulekani ‘BK’ Dludla, a towering figure in faith, justice, and moral regeneration, following his passing.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli, expressed his sorrow and acknowledged Rev Dludla’s immense contributions to society.
Born in Melmoth in 1926, Reverend Dludla dedicated his life to ministry, social justice, and education. His leadership extended across various platforms, notably as Chair of Inanda Seminary from 1965 to 1981 and as the first President of the Soldiers of Christ Movement. Through these roles, he championed ethical leadership and tirelessly advocated for a just society.
During the apartheid era, Reverend Dludla was a beacon of courage, providing refuge to political activists and boldly calling for the release of Nelson Mandela. His unwavering commitment to uplifting the vulnerable was also evident in education, where he personally funded the schooling of underprivileged children, ensuring they had access to a brighter future.
His passing comes at a time when KwaZulu-Natal continues to grapple with the scourge of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), a cause he passionately fought against.
Premier Ntuli paid tribute to his unwavering advocacy for justice and the protection of the most vulnerable. “We counted on leaders like Reverend Dludla to stand against such injustices. His voice will be dearly missed in our fight against GBV and other societal ills,” he stated.
Reverend Dludla was also a close friend and confidant of the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. Their shared vision of justice, ethical leadership, and community upliftment forged a profound bond between them. Together, they stood as pillars of strength and voices of reason in times of turmoil.
“With his passing, we have lost a key role player in fighting for moral regeneration in our society. His work and teachings will continue to inspire generations to come,” said Premier Ntuli.
“Reverend Dludla leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, service, and unwavering dedication to justice. His contributions to the province and the country will not be forgotten,” said Premier Ntuli.
