Faith Whittle is proof of how taking the initiative can lead to great results. She took on the task of competing in the aQuellé Midmar Mile to raise money for the Domino Foundation’s Babies’ Home and she was astounded by the generosity of well-wishers who were inspired by her drive to help fix the Babies’ Home.

True to her name, Faith Whittle, swam last month’s aQuellé Midmar Mile to raise funds towards the roof renovation project of the Domino Foundation’s Babies’ Home.
She managed to raise R7 060. Considering the daunting R1.3 million needed, she said, “It was just a drop in the ocean…well, actually the Midmar Dam.”
But her story stirred others into action. In the month since the iconic swimming event, generous well-wishers contributed a further R1 075 000, making a grand total of R1 082 080 to date, said Karen Brokensha, Domino Foundation’s marketing manager.
“From small beginnings big things come and we are more than two thirds of the way there,” said Ms Brokensha. “We encourage willing and able partners to invest into this legacy building at the Babies’ Home. This home has for over 21 years, provided a place of safety, nurture and love to the more than 170 infants and toddlers who have found their ‘forever’ adoptive families through the Babies’ Home.”
