People who had been walking nearby, found the body of a woman washed up at Casuarina Beach, around midday on Thursday.
The bodies of two women were found washed up in two separate incidents on Thursday July 6.
The women, both believed to be in their thirties, were found at the Umdloti beach and the Casuarina beach.
Fishermen at Umdloti discovered the first body at about 4am on Thursday. It had been floating in the surf.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) spokesman Prem Balram said the fishermen had been unable to retrieve the body and called their officers to assist
“We received the call at about 4:14am from a fisherman who reported the body of a naked female floating in the surf. He said they (the fishermen) had tried to retrieve the body but due to the high tide, they were unsuccessful. Our members then immediately dispatched to the scene and retrieved the body from the surf. The deceased had several lacerations to her head,” said Mr Balram.
He said no further information was available and that the Umdloti SAPS were investigating.
The other body was found washed up at Casuarina Beach, Tongaat, shortly after midday.
IPSS Medical Rescue spokesman Dylan Meyrick said they had been alerted to the incident by people who had been walking nearby.
“Currently there have been no reports of a missing person and the female remains unidentified at this time,” said Mr Meyrick.
He said no further details were available.
The Tongaat SAPS was investigating the matter.
