Ten children were injured in an accident involving a number of vehicles on the Duranta Road, Merebank on-ramp to the M4 Southern Freeway this morning.
Gareth Jamieson, spokesman for ALS Paramedics said on arrival they found that six vehicles, including two taxis, had collided.
“One taxi was carrying school children. A triage system was set up and more ambulances and Advance Life Support Paramedics were dispatched to assist. A total of 10 patients, mostly children aged between 8 and 13, were stabilised on scene for various injuries before being transported to various Durban Hospitals for the care that they required,” said Mr Jamieson.
He said events leading up the crash were unknown at this stage and that police would investigate further.
