In a remarkable rescue effort, an adult bull was saved from a pit toilet on Monday afternoon.
The incident unfolded when officers from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on the scene at about 3pm. They were responding to reports from a resident who noticed a herd of cows and bulls grazing in the area.
“One of the bulls had inadvertently climbed onto a pit latrine, which collapsed under its weight, trapping the animal. Upon assessing the situation, the Reaction Officers promptly called for additional team members and ropes to rescue the bull before it could drown. The officers enlisted the assistance of nearby residents, who rallied to the cause. After a tense 30-minute effort, they successfully removed the bull by attaching ropes to its horns and carefully pulling it to safety,” said RUSA’s Prem Balram.
The herdsman was not present and could not be located at the scene.
