A robbery suspect died after boiling water was thrown on him when he broke into a home.
The Berea homeowner reacted when the robber broke in and confronted her with a knife early on Monday evening.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said they were investigating a case of attempted robbery and an inquest following the man’s death.
Colonel Netshiunda said it was alleged that the woman was at her home when an unknown man broke the kitchen door and entered the house armed with a knife.
“The woman, who was busy in her kitchen at the time, poured boiling water over the suspect as she screamed for help. The suspect ran out to the front lawn and died from his injuries shortly thereafter,” said Colonel Netshiunda.
Investigations, he said, were ongoing.
